Epic’s mod system allows users to just click on what mods they want to add to their library and then select which mods they want active in the game. MechWarrior 5 has a vibrant and active mod community over on Nexus Mods, but those mods required users to have some rudimentary knowledge of game files in order to know where to place those mods. In July, Epic announced that they’d be rolling out mod support to certain games and naming MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries as the first one. Steam makes it easy to install and manage mods, and now that same ease-of-use is coming to the Epic Games Store. Being able to modify your favorite game to be just the way you like it is something that PC games have enjoyed for years, and it’s a big reason why so many PC gamers are such big fans of Steam.
